Ziva L., Age 9
Overcoming Severe Dog Phobia
Treatment with Jillian at Renewed Freedom Center
Before Treatment:
Ziva’s fear of dogs controlled her daily life. She couldn’t walk around her neighborhood without “dodging dogs,” wouldn’t leave her room when dogs were nearby, and visiting friends with pets was impossible.
The Treatment Process:
Working with therapist Jillian, Ziva gradually faced her fears through exposure therapy. Her assignments included going on walks and eventually petting dogs, including Jillian’s own dog, Rooney. “It was hard at first, but then I wasn’t scared,” Ziva explains.
Life After Treatment:
The transformation has been remarkable. Ziva now describes dogs as “wonderful, fluffy, and cute. I’m in love with dogs.” She’s gone from paralyzing fear to genuine joy, saying “Dogs make me happy.” She even wants to visit Rooney again!
“Jillian was super nice. It took a long time, but it worked,” Ziva says, grateful for reclaiming her childhood freedom.
