Diagnostic Evaluation
The first step toward a clearer path forward
When anxiety or OCD is affecting your life, it can be hard to know what you are dealing with and what kind of support will actually help. A diagnostic evaluation at Renewed Freedom Center is designed to bring clarity. We take time to understand your symptoms, how they show up day to day, what triggers them, and what has and has not helped so far. From there, we can recommend a treatment plan that matches your needs, whether that involves Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), group therapy, or a more structured program such as our intensive outpatient program (IOP).

What a diagnostic evaluation helps with
A diagnostic evaluation can be helpful if you are experiencing symptoms that feel difficult to explain, if you are unsure whether you are dealing with anxiety, OCD, or a related concern, or if you want a clear plan rather than guessing what to try next. It can also help if symptoms have changed over time, or if previous treatment did not feel like the right fit.
What to expect during the evaluation
Your evaluation focuses on understanding the full picture, not just a checklist of symptoms. We explore the history and current impact of concerns such as obsessive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, avoidance, panic symptoms, persistent worry, or distress that interferes with work, school, relationships, or daily routines.
We also consider factors that can influence symptoms, such as stressors, family dynamics, environment, and patterns that may be keeping anxiety or OCD cycles going. The goal is to understand what is happening and why, so treatment recommendations are targeted and practical.
Evaluations for children and teens
For children and adolescents, the evaluation process is tailored to developmental needs and family context. We take special care to understand how symptoms are showing up at home and at school, and how family interactions may be affected. When appropriate, we involve caregivers so the treatment plan supports the whole system, not just the individual.
After the evaluation, what happens next?
After your evaluation, you will have a clearer understanding of the concerns being addressed and the recommended next steps. Depending on your needs, that may include:
- Weekly evidence-based therapy through CBT (including ERP when appropriate)
- More structured support through our intensive outpatient program
- Skills-based connection and support through group therapy
We avoid one-size-fits-all recommendations. The purpose of the evaluation is to match you to an approach that fits your symptoms, goals, and life.
